Who Runs The Lido In 2026
The 2026 season started with a dispute over the lido's concession. Two local news outlets reported it, and neither report is an official Comune notice.
EspansioneTv, the Como local TV news, reported on 23 February 2026 that the Comune di Como did not renew the concession of the lido's historic manager, Maurizio Locatelli, who had run the lido since 1981. The mayor said the service would not be interrupted.
Shortly afterwards, QuiComo, a local news site, reported that the Comune reversed course and the lido stays with the historic manager for the 2026 season. A new public tender for the lido is to be discussed for the 2027 season. No notice of that tender was found on the Comune's own pages.
What This Means For A Visitor
If the press reports are right, the lido runs in 2026 under the management that has run it since 1981. None of that is confirmed on an official page, and the operator's website is not answering with a site. Treat the phone number as the source for the day you plan to go, and keep a second plan for the lake.

Swimming Next Door: The Villa Olmo Park Rules
The lawn in front of Villa Olmo is not a lake beach. The Comune's park ordinance says so in writing.
The park ordinance (Ordinanza Dirigenziale 339 of 2023) bans swimming (balneazione) in Villa Olmo park. It also bans picnics, glass bottles, ball games, drones, smoking, climbing trees and walls, and chairs, deckchairs, tables or tents on the grass. The lakefront parterre lawns are off limits, other lawns are usable.
The park's hours are 07:00-20:00 daily from 1 October to 4 April, and 07:00-23:00 daily from 5 April to 30 September. Entry to the park is free. The park can close partly or fully in bad weather, for maintenance or events, with signs at the gates.
So the division of labour is clear: the park is for walking, shade and views of the villa, and the lido is for swimming and sunbathing. If you want both in one outing, confirm by phone that the lido is open first.

The lido sits on the western shore at Via Cernobbio 20, beside Villa Olmo park. Most visitors reach it on foot along the lakefront, and the walk is part of the day rather than a chore.
On Foot From The Centre

By Train
